The Sri Lanka Honeymoon Guide

The most romantic itineraries, retreats and quiet corners of Sri Lanka for a private island honeymoon.

Sri Lanka has quietly become one of the most exciting honeymoon destinations in Asia — a compact island of extraordinary variety, quiet villas and effortless privacy. Unlike the more familiar Indian Ocean choices, it offers real cultural depth alongside beach time; a couple can wake beside an ancient rock temple and be dining on a wild south-coast beach the following night.

Our most-loved honeymoon shape is a three-part rhythm: two nights in the Cultural Triangle for atmosphere and adventure, three or four in the hill country for cool air, walks and long lazy dinners in a tea planter's bungalow, then four or five nights on the coast for pure decompression. Two weeks is ideal; ten days works if the pace is disciplined.

The hotels are what set a honeymoon apart. Sri Lanka's best include a small collection of exquisitely private villas, tea-country retreats where you dine outdoors under the stars, and beachfront properties with only a dozen suites facing the ocean. We build our suggestions around your travel style, not a fixed menu.

The small touches matter: a private candlelit dinner on the ramparts of Galle Fort, a helicopter transfer from the hills to the coast, a sunrise walk to a hilltop temple with your own local guide. These are the moments couples remember years later, and we plan them personally with each honeymoon we design.
